After quite a bit of a break, now that this season turned our Saskatchewan prairies into a freezing and brisk winter wonderland, I had some time to think about last year's photo shoots with its successes and challenges! The other week I went out to take pictures of a very special friend of mine (with her kids) and her last picture just struck me! I saw her beautiful eyes and knew I would love to take pictures of JUST HER some time, and of other beautiful women for that matter.
I have told many people that I first started taking pictures of my friends, because I really wanted to show them their beauty. I wanted them to see a picture of themselves that made them want to look at it over and over again! Not the usual feeling of wishing to delete a picture as soon as they see it.
Yes, we all have those terrible pics from parties and events that make us wonder what has happened to the put together woman we saw in the mirror that morning... I feel this way almost every time someone takes my picture! So I realized, what I really want to do in the long run is to take pictures of one or two people the most! That way I can focus on their features, get the most and best out of them and know I've done a good job.
So here's my decision for the year 2015:
I'd like to keep the end of May and the beginning of June free for a few GRAD SHOOTS ($200.-/session).
And I will do FAMILY SHOOTS ($ 200.-/session) in September and the beginning of October for all of you who need new pictures for Christmas cards etc. (I will do up to 8 shoots, so make sure to get onto my list).
But for the rest of the year, I want to make a special deal for SINGLE and COUPLE SHOOTS! They will be $100.- a session (only this year)!
The reason for this years change is that I want to do what I do best! I know my strengths and weaknesses and I feel I should focus on my passion and advertise my best work! And doing pictures of only one or two people is what I love to do most!
I would love to do a variety of styles! I'd like to go bold, to stay true to myself and to take pictures that will make me jump with excitement. (And don't get me wrong, I am not only referring to females , I will also take pictures of males, if there are any brave enough out there to do a shoot!)
Keep in mind that my weekends are limited and I will only do 4 shoots a month from Mai to October (weather permitting). I like to be spontaneous, but will have to keep myself organized to make sure I don't stretch myself too thin.
Thanks to all of you for your support, encouragement and generosity!
I have been surprised many times this year with all three!
Blessings to you and your families and merry Christmas!
