Book Page Wreath Tutorial

A friend of mine wondered how to do these wreaths.
Since I couldn't find the tutorial of the one I liked the most myself, I made one myself.

Cut out a card board wreath and glue any kind of hanger to the back side.

I use two techniques to fold the book pages.

 This is the first...

(Das ist die Erste...)

This is the second...

(Das ist die Zweite...)

Make sure to fold the lower edge of each page to glue it down.

Use a hot glue gun to glue each page to the card board wreath.
Start from the outside, go around in a circle and work your way through to the middle of the wreath.
I always make sure to glue the inside of the folding crease so they won't fold open.

The same for the other technique ;)

(Das Gleiche gilt fuer die andere Methode ;) )

It usually takes three rows to fill the wreaths.

To figure out the inside of the wreaths, I mostly tried to fold the pages in different ways until I was satisfied.
And THEN glued those on!

This is how the second technique looks on the back side once I'm done.

When I do the wreath with the first folding technique, I like to fill little gabs with the second folding technique afterwards.

I personally like to paint the edges of the books before I rip them appart :),
it gives it a vintage look I find.
I use regular darc (black, brown, grey, etc.) acrylic paint to do that and just go along the edges of the closed book.

 Enjoy!!!

(Viel Spass!!!)

Summer Solstice 2013

These are the paintings I made for the Sale at this year's summer solstice
in Yellow Grass.

This painting seemed to be the most desired that day.
I printed our Postal Code etc. onto it to personalize it :)

This one is the only one I haven't sold yet.
It can be purchased at the Yellow Grass post office or if you simply contact me ($85).

Flowers For Mabel

Mabel used to be our neighbor a couple of years ago.
She turned 99 this summer and her daughter let me paint her painting for this occasion.
Happy Birthday Mabel!
